Practice Statement

As an interior architecture and design studio, our guiding belief is simple: to create meaningful spaces for everyday rituals through a curious, considerate, and thoughtful approach to the human scale of architecture.

These values form the foundation of how — and why — we build models. We are deeply interested in the sensual and physical qualities of space, and we use models and mock-ups as tools to communicate and explore these ideas.

Our models are often constructed like “movie sets” — purpose-built to be viewed through a lens and to capture the genuine patterns and nuances of natural light. We aim to recreate spaces as faithfully as possible using the intended surface materials — paint, oils, veneers, and more — while relying on conventional materials such as foam board, cardboard, and glue to construct the underlying structure.

For us, making is a form of thinking. Each model is not just a representation, but a process of discovery — revealing new, unforeseen possibilities that emerge only through the act of making itself.

Modelmaking Space and Resources

We use models for a variety of reasons: for studying the effects of light on surface throughout the day in our interior models, mock-ups for construction and assembly principles, brainstorming design solutions, etc.

We are always aware that we cannot keep our models longterm, so we design with the underlying principal that they will be recycled or dissembled and ultimately be recorded through photography.
