Practice Statement

For over 25 years, physical models have been the core of what we do. In that time we've learned that a model's real value isn't just accuracy, it's clarity. A well-made model lets clients grasp scale, massing, context and spatial relationships in a way no drawing or digital visualisation quite achieves.

We see ourselves as an extension of the design team we're working with. That means getting involved early, asking questions about how a model will be used, and shaping the brief around its purpose, whether it needs to hold up under scrutiny at a planning committee, sell an apartment off-plan, or simply help a team think through a design problem in three dimensions.

Beyond getting the geometry right, we regularly advise on the features that make a model work harder: removable sections that reveal internal layouts, integrated lighting, considered material choices that read correctly at scale, and interactive elements that invite people to engage rather than just look. These decisions are often what separates a model that informs from one that merely represents.

Combining CNC machining, laser cutting and 3D printing with hands-on finishing means we can move quickly on complex projects, from rapid concept models through to museum quality display pieces, without sacrificing the accuracy or finish the project deserves.

Modelmaking Space and Resources

Maher's Model Making transforms digital designs into highly accurate physical models for architects, developers, designers, museums and creative agencies. We're typically engaged from early design development through final presentation, producing concept, planning, sales, and exhibition models. Projects begin with client-supplied CAD models, drawings or sketches, refined in house using Rhino 3D and manufactured through CNC machining, laser cutting, 3D printing and traditional modelmaking. Beyond fabrication, we advise on scale, construction methods, materials and presentation to ensure every model communicates the design as effectively as possible.
