We have the space and facilities to construct tabletop cardboard models. The models are most successful when examining and describing tight urban sites. Some clients love the model, identifying existing features in the site and seeing the relationship of new forms and spaces to the old. Others are more sceptical preferring to hear a description or see a sketch. They certainly don't expect to pay for a model. So we draw and sketch freehand and use the physical model to break away from familiar processes. In this context models have to be cheap, quick and produced by the project architect.
We buy cardboard or use leftovers to produce spatial models.
